Wedding Ornament

A little over a year ago on one of my Thursday Favorites posts I shared an ornament and said I would make it for the next person that got married.  Two of my cousins got married in 2012 so I decided to give the ornament a try.  Here is the original in the post I shared.  I tried to click the link and it looks like the photo isn't on pinterest anymore so I can't give credit.

Here is my version:

These are simple to make. I got the glass ornament at Michaels at Christmas time.  I decided to etch the ornament to give it a little something extra, but you wouldn't have to.  I then cut the wedding invitation into strips, rolled the strips and shoved them in the ornament.

Now I can cross this off my list of "Pinterest ideas to make".  I like it so much, it might become my go-to extra little gift at the weddings I attend.

The Utter Relief of Holiness Review and GIVEAWAY

*******This Giveaway is Closed*******
Winner is Merv who said: "My favorite author is Dee Henderson I have read all her books"  I e-mailed you.  Please respond and let me know your address in the next 48 hours.

I was excited to get to read and review the book, The Utter Relief: How God's Goodness Frees us From Everything that Plagues Us, by John Eldredge because I really enjoyed the last book I read by him, Walking with God.
In this book,  Eldredge helps us take a look at and redefine what holiness means in our lives and how God can transform our lives and set us free.  I actually haven't finished reading the book yet because I like to read his books a little at a time so that I can really take in and process what he is saying.  He writes some deep Biblical truth and I don't want to miss it!  From what I have read so far though, I would totally recommend going and grabbing a copy.

Kyle Sherman CD Review and Giveaway

I had the opportunity to review this amazing new album by Kyle Sherman called "Hear Me".  Sometimes I am leery of reviewing new artists that I have never heard of before, but "Hear Me" is definitely worth checking out!  I have to say that I really like the whole album.  It is very worshipful and just fun.  I think that my favorite track is the title track, Hear Me.  I also really like, You are the Only One and Come to Me.

Here is the album bio:

"Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter Kyle Sherman recently signed on as the flagship artist to brand new label RayLynn Records, an opportunity that presented itself during a time period when a record deal wasn't even on his radar.

"It's crazy how God works," Kyle says. 'Five years ago, I pushed pretty hard to do my own thing as a singer-songwriter, but every well I approached would dry up. It clearly wasn't the right time." So Kyle continued on a path of leading worship, taking a full-time role as worship leader at Lifechurch.TV's Fort Worth campus under the leadership of renowned pastor/author Craig Groeschel.

Just 3-years later Kyle made it back to Nashville, pouring his heart into a microphone at Sony studio with veteran producer and country singer-songwriter Mark Collie making his first album. God is faithful. Hear Me, the result of those sessions, is an eclectic and authentic mix of rootsy, southern soul."

3 Favorites Thursday--Cards

This blog was originally started to share my card creations while I was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I don't get to stamp nearly as often as I would like anymore, but I still enjoy seeing creative card ideas and saving those ideas for later when I have time to stamp.  Here are 3 of my favorite simple cards I have pinned on pinterest.

Love these cute, funny owls

I think this card is so creative!

The Mighty Macs DVD review and giveaway

    ******This Giveaway is closed*****

In October I had the opportunity to watch an online preview of the movie "The Mighty Macs" before it came out in theaters.  I shared that I just love this movie and I thought you all would too.  Now the movie is out on DVD and I would definitely recommend seeing it if you haven't yet (or even if you have!).

The movie stars Carla Gugino, Marley Shelton, David Boreanaz and Ellen Burstyn.

Here is a little about the movie:
"It's 1971. Cathy Rush is a woman ahead of her time ... and she's about to embark on an adventure for the ages. A new era is dawning in the country and in collegiate athletics, where a national champion will be crowned for the first time in women's basketball.

In the lead up to this historical season, major universities are preparing their game plans to win that first title. Meanwhile a tiny all-women's Catholic college in Philadelphia has a more modest goal: find a coach before the season begins. Providentially, Cathy Rush is about to find Immaculata College.

Recently married, Cathy is dealing with the aftermath of a truncated playing career. While cultural norms would have her staying at home, she's willing to do the hard work necessary to help her new team reach their goals—or perhaps she's just trying to achieve her unfulfilled dreams through them.

From the beginning, her challenges are as imposing as the big-school teams Immaculata will face on the court. Cathy learns there is no gymnasium on campus, she receives little support from the school's Mother Superior, and the school is in dire financial straits. To top it off, she may not even have enough players to field a team!

While it appears the Macs don't have a prayer, all hope is not lost. With the help of Sister Sunday—a spunky assistant coach—and the support of a booster club of elderly nuns, Coach Rush creates a new game plan that just might bring the team—and the school—together.

Will this pioneer buck cultural norms and spur her rag-tag team to unexpected heights? Or will her hard-driving ways create a wedge between the coach and everyone around her? One thing's for certain: there's never been anyone like Cathy Rush at Immaculata!"
