I am so excited to get to share this book with you. None Like Him, by Jen Wilkin is a book about 10 ways that God is different from us and why that is a good thing! Let me share with you the description I got before reading the book:
God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible.
We're not.
And that's a good thing.
Our limitations are by design. we were never meant to be God But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone.
Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God's limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.
I have to admit that I am not finished reading the book. I am usually one that reads a book in one day, but this book is more like a devotional. It is meant to be dug into and pondered and prayed over. Each chapter shares an attribute of God. I love that the author shares many little stories to explain and help the reader understand. I like stories because they help me remember what I read and relate it to life. Another thing I like is that at the end of each chapter are Bible verses to look at, reflection questions, and a prayer.
I really enjoyed the book. I think it would be great to read on your own, or to be discussed with a small group. It made me really reflect on who God is and who I am.
