Bible Journaling Kit Review

This past summer I started hearing about something called Bible journaling/art.  There are Bibles that are specifically made for this with wide blank margins.  I met a lady who had beautiful and meaningful art she drew and colored in her Bible that helped her study scripture and remember important verses.

My own personal Bible has many highlighted and underlined verses with a few sermon notes written in the margins or specific things God has taught me with a date.

I was excited to get to try out this Bible journaling kit.  I thought it was a great idea to have a kit with everything needed to journal or draw in my Bible.
The kit includes:
·         4 sheets of word stickers
·         4 sheets of alphabet stickers
·         24 tab stickers
·         8 colored pencil twists
·         1 journaling pen
·         1 pouch with adjustable strap to fit Bibles of all sizes

·         1 ruled page protector mat with tracing lines

My thoughts??

*I really liked the journaling pen.  It has a fine tip and was easy to write with.

*I liked the look of the stickers and the phrases on them.  Maybe it is just personal preference, but I will not use them in my Bible.  I just can't bring myself to put stickers on the pages of my Bible!  I will use them other ways.

*The colored pencils are twistable so they do not need to be sharpened, but I found them flimsy and hard to color with.  The "lead" inside felt like it was bending as I pressed down and it was hard to draw with them.

*The pouch to hold everything is nice.  My Bible has a soft cover so I did not try it out, but I like the idea.

*Overall, I would not recommend this kit.  I will use some parts of it, but I do not think it is worth the price.

This is just my opinion.  I am sure there are others who really like this kit and will get a lot of use out of it.

The company is giving away 5 of these kits. Click HERE to enter.  That link also has some free coloring pages that look fun.

Baby, Baby! Book Review and Giveaway

I have another super cute book to share with you.  This one is a mirror board book.

I had to get a few young reviewers to help me out for this one.  The 2 and 4 year old girls both liked this book and think others should read it too! :)

This really is such a cute book.  A few words on each page, rhyming phrases, and a reminder that God loves Baby (and everyone).  The last page is a mirror page to show who God loves. :)

Here were a few favorite pages:

All Things Bright and Beautiful

"All things bright and Beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: the Lord God made them all…"
Did anyone else grow up singing the song "All Things Bright and Beautiful" by Cecil Frances Alexander?  I love that song.  What a way to remember all the things that God created and blessed us with.  God cares about even the little details.
This children's book, All Things Bright and Beautiful, has the lyrics of the song as the words and beautiful watercolor style illustrations to match.  The illustrator, Katy Hudson, brought the song to life with her illustrations.  They pictures show three children discovering and enjoying each thing that God has made.  The illustrations enhance the words of the song and are so detailed.

The target age for this book is 4-7 years old.  I highly recommend this book for all the children in your life.  Children, Grandchildren, neighborhood children, Nieces/Nephews, students, kids who know God's love and those who have not yet heard of His love for them.

"...He gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell, how great is God Almighty, who has made all things well."

Children of God Album Review

Ohhhh!  I love finding new music to enjoy!  This new album is called Child of God and is by Phil Wickham.

Here is a little background to the making of the album.  This is Phil's 7th album. He was struggling to write the album. It became a job instead of a passion.   Then he found out he had a vocal polyp.  He faced surgery and the possibility of never being able to sing again.

He said, "I remember a few days after the diagnosis, I was on my knees asking God for some peace and clarity and a sense of Him in it all.  All of a sudden I had a sense of God's presence there with me.  There have only been a few times in my life where I felt, undeniably, His voice speaking to me.  This was one of them.  I felt undeniably, His voice speaking to me.  He said my identity is not in what I do, but in who He says I am.  He said, 'I'm your father.  You're my child.  Trust me."

He still had damaged vocal cords and an uncertain future, but God had take away his fear.

Phil was given freedom and a new passion.  He wrote songs out of the "reawakening of his heart"  I think you can really hear his passion for God in this album.

It is hard to pick a favorite song on this album, but I think mine is "As it is in Heaven"

"I lift my hands and say that I need you
I lift my heart and say that I love you
I give my life, Lord, I am forever yours
Let your will be done in me
Let your kingdom come in me
In my life, Lord, let it be as it is in heaven"

ESV Family Devotional Bible Review and Giveaway.

I think it is so important to read the Bible with your kids from a young age.  When I was a child we read a chapter from the Bible and discussed it every night after dinner.  It taught me the importance of knowing God's word and promoted the habit of consistent Bible reading and seeking God through His word.  It is a habit my husband and I have continued.
Sometimes it is hard for young kids to understand what is going on in different Bible stories.  That is one of the reasons I really like the ESV Family Devotional Bible.  The Bible retells 130 stories with colorful illustrations.

The ESV Family Devotional Bible is designed to help families read and apply God’s Word together. This full-color edition features the complete ESV text interspersed with engaging illustrations and gospel-centered devotions related to key Bible stories—guiding families through the entirety of God’s Word over the course of a year. Each devotion also includes discussion questions and suggestions for additional reading, helping families develop a habit of reading the Bible together and applying its truth to all of life.

Things I like about this Bible:

*The stories are easy to understand.  They are a simple retelling of the Bible story.

*Each retelling also has 3 questions and a key verse.

*The whole Bible is there.  You can choose to read the Bible with the devotional stories or without.

*I like that it has illustrations to help the reader picture how the scenes might have looked.  One thing I don't care for is that I think the characters look more caucasian than Hebrew/Jewish.

I would definitely recommend this Bible for families.  If you are interested in finding out more or getting a copy for yourself you can check out these links:
