1 Girl Nation CD Review and Giveaway

I have a new CD to tell you about!  1 Girl Nation's self titled debut CD is now available.
"1 Girl Nation is an exciting blend of upbeat pop music with lyrics that are totally focused on living life for God, even while you're young."
1 Girl Nation is geared toward preteen and teen girls, but I think all ages would enjoy this CD.  Maybe you have already heard their first single called "While We're Young" playing on the radio.  After listening to the songs a few times, I found myself singing along to the upbeat music and singing it to myself throughout the day.
Just a piece of lyrics from "In His Eyes"

"You are beautiful
In the eyes, in the eyes
Of the One who made you
You are perfect
You're worth more than you know
In the eyes, in the eyes
Of the One who made you "

This would make a great Christmas gift for the preteen/teen girl on your list.

Audrey Bunny Children's Book Review and Giveaway

I have such a sweet children's book to share today.  The book, Audrey Bunny, by Angie Smith, is about a stuffed animal bunny named Audrey that is left in the toy bin time after time because of an imperfection.  When a little girl, Caroline, picks Audrey as the toy she wants, Audrey is sure that Caroline doesn't see her imperfection and she tries so hard to hide it at all times.  She worries about the moment that Caroline realizes that she isn't perfect.  I don't want to spoil the ending, you will have to read the book for yourself to find out what happens, but it is such a great story.
I really enjoyed reading the story and I can't wait to read it with my nieces next time I see them.  The story is great and the illustrations are just as great.

I LOVE that the end of the book shared a Bible verse with truth that related to the story.  Not only that, but the book had a page for parents called Parent Connection. This page included section to read, a section with questions to think about and a section for things to do.--SO COOL!!

I highly recommend this book!  It would make a great Christmas gift for the 4-8 year old child in your life.

Get My Memories Suite for FREE (Review and code)

A few years ago I had the opportunity to review a digital scrapbooking program called, My Memories Suite.  Click for my review.  This time I got to test out the newest version, My Memories Suite Version 4.  Not only do I get to review it, I get to give my readers a code to get a downloadable copy of the program FREE for themselves.  Cool, right?   If you look at my previous review you can see a sample of a digital scrapbook page that I made.  This time I tried making a card for my niece's birthday.  I just printed it out at Costco as a 4x6 photo.  I just made a simple 4x6, but this program allows for much more elaborate digital scrapping also.  I plan to try making my own Project Life style 3x4 cards next.

To get this program for free, go to the My Memories Website, put the download version of My Memories Suite Version 4 in your cart, and use the code FreeTreatLO160.   (It is probably easiest to copy and paste the code.)  This code is valid until October 31, 2013.

Alone Yet Not Alone Review and giveaway

Time for another review and giveaway!  This time for the book, Alone Yet Not Alone, by Tracy Leininger Craven

Here is a short description:
"Settled in the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania, deep within America's new frontier, the Leininger family celebrates the blessings of a beautiful homestead and bountiful harvest.  That is, until tragedy strikes with the beginning of the French and Indian War and the devastating raid known as the Penn's Creek Massacre.

The lives of this simple, God-fearing family are forever altered when Barbara and Regina, two young sisters, are carried away by the Delaware tribe.  Driven by their faith in God and the powerful bonds of family, Barbara and Regina hold firmly to the belief that they are never alone, even in their darkest hour, and that they will be reunited again.

Rich in historical details, Alone Yet Not Alone is an inspirational, true story of a family caught in the cross fire of the French and Indian War.  Written by:  Tracy Leininger Craven"

Books and movies are hard to review because it is hard to share just how good a book is without spoiling it for the reader.  I will say that this book, Alone Yet Not Alone, definitely gets 5 stars from me. The book is listed as juvenile fiction, the target audience is probably middle school through high school, but I enjoyed it as an adult.  It was an easy read, and it quickly captured my attention and emotions.  I couldn't put the book down and finished it in one sitting because I had to know what happened!  Barbara's faith and perseverance touched my heart and encouraged me in my faith.

The review and giveaway are for the book, but the movie for this book is coming to theaters on September 27, 2013.  If there is a movie based on a book I like to read the book first and then watch the movie.  My husband is opposite and likes to watch the movie before he reads the book.  Either way, my suggestion is to read/watch both!  I loved the book and can't wait to see how they did the movie.

This Is Our Time DVD Review and Giveaway

"Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received one of more of the products or services mentioned below for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.  Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.  I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CRF, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

I have to admit that when my fiance and I started watching This Is Our Time, I was a little worried that the movie was going to be cheesy.  I was so wrong.  What a great movie!  Both T. and I agreed that not only did we enjoy the movie, it was also such a thought/discussion provoking movie.  We finished the movie and discussed what it meant for us and our lives.  A good movie is one that doesn't end when you stop the DVD player.

Here is a little about the movie:
The movie tells the interwoven stories of Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) and Ale (Erin Bethea), who marry right after school and move to India to serve as missionaries for Embrace A Village, a ministry that cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families; aspiring financer Catherine (Kate Cobb), who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate America; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can't wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young), seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given purpose and feels sidelined by God.

"What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time, "  Arnold said.  "It was, always is God's time."

The Little House That Stood DVD Giveaway

I am so excited to get to share this new video with you!  I am a huge fan of VeggieTales and VeggieTales The Little House That Stood does not disappoint.  This video is a mix between The 3 Little Pigs and the parable of the wise and foolish builders.  So cute and funny--and it has a great lesson too.  The second story is a retelling Humpty Dumpty called, "The Good Egg of Gooseville"  Another good story.

"When the Three Little Pigs roll into Cabbageville looking to build some new houses, they meet one builder with a plan and two without a clue!  Larry builds with hay, Mr. Lunt with bricks, but only Bob builds his house on a firm foundation - following the wise plans from the "Master Builder's Handbook!"  Will the Little Piggies make the right choices when it comes to building their houses - and their lives - on solid ground?  Find out in this parable that shows kids that when they follow God's blueprints, they can stand strong when the storms come!"

I have to say, the Silly Song is pretty funny too. :)
